Kabataan Para sa Tribung Pilipino (KATRIBU)

Background................................................................................................. The National Minorities and the students are two distinct sectors in the Philippine society. However, a commonality binds them. They are both being oppressed and exploited by an unjust system.

In march 1984; a group of students concerned with the National Minorities' welfare discussed such commonalities in a gathering called the Student's Assembly for Minority Concerns (SAMC). It was established out of the need to form a solid and responsive organization in support for National Minority rights to Ancestral Land and Self Determination.

In March 1985 is the year that Kabataan Para sa Tribung Pilipino (KATRIBU) was formally launched to fulfill these tasks. Realizing their role as a catalyst, they vowed to amplify the minority issues in urban center and provide direct support to the National Minority communities nationwide.
